'The Vault' in an historic archive containing black and white pictures taken by award-winning photographer John Casamento. John's photo-journalistic career began in Melbourne in 1955. For the next five decades, thousands of his photographs illustrated many newspapers and magazines. The gallery below is a glimpse into John's extensive photo library: countless stories in politics, sport, arts, features and news events which are now etched into the history of Victoria and Australia.

John's work has also taken him on assignment to many countries. He is the author of the top-selling pictorial biography of the world's only living gorilla born by artificial insemination - 'Mzuri, The Baby Gorilla', and of 'Out of the Darkroom', a retrospective collection of some of John's most memorable pictures.
